How it differs from buying one pedal

A single Brown Sound edition pedal unlocks the 78/79 collection plus one more of your choice, and ships with TONEX SE. The box set gives you all three collections, so the full 150 Brown Sound Tone Models, and upgrades the software to TONEX MAX. You also get all three colours, which no single purchase covers, in a set limited to 200 units across the world.

The Brown Sound, start to finish

The Brown Sound is the warm, saturated hard rock guitar tone that came out of Sunset Sound Studios in 1978 and shaped rock guitar for years after. IK built the three collections with Jim Gaustad, who has spent his career recreating that tone, and split them by era across a six-album run. With all three in one set, you can follow how the sound changed from the raw early records to the later ones, and switch between eras on the same rig.

What to do with three pedals

• A stereo or dual-amp rig: run two pedals side by side and use the customisable LED colours to tell them apart.
• One pedal per era: set up each colour with a different collection, so changing eras is as simple as changing pedals.
• Home, gig and backup: keep one on the pedalboard, one on the desk for recording and one as a spare.
• Keep one sealed: many collectors play two and leave one boxed.

Each pedal in the set

Every pedal is a full TONEX ONE. AI Machine Modeling recreates real amps, cabinets and pedals, with a noise gate, compressor, 3-band EQ, reverb, delay, modulation and a tuner on board. The footswitch works in Stomp mode (on/off) or Dual mode (switching between two presets). Each has a 1/4″ instrument input, a 1/4″ TRS output for stereo, dual mono or headphones, and a USB-C port that loads Tone Models, powers the pedal from a computer and works as a 24-bit/44.1 kHz audio interface. IK limited the Collector’s Limited Edition to 200 units worldwide.

Which Brown Sound collections are included?

TONEX SE comes with single TONEX ONE pedals. TONEX MAX, included in this set, is the full version, with more than 1,250 Premium Tone Models and the tools to model your own gear.

Do the three pedals sound different from each other?

No. They share the same hardware and the same 20 Brown Sound presets. The colours are the only difference, and you can load different tones onto each one.

Can I use two of the pedals together?

Yes. The LED colours can be customised so you can tell stacked pedals apart, which helps when running a stereo or dual-amp setup.

Is a power supply included?

A power supply is not listed in the box contents. Each pedal runs from a standard 9 V DC centre-negative pedal supply or from USB-C power.
