The TONEX ONE is IK Multimedia’s mini amp modeler pedal, bringing the same AI Machine Modelling technology as the larger TONEX pedals into a box small enough for any pedalboard. It is for guitarists who want authentic amp and drive tones on a tight board, a reliable backup rig, a silent practice tool or a simple way to record direct.
What is a Tone Model?
TONEX uses AI to capture the sound and feel of real gear, from a single overdrive pedal to a full amp and cabinet rig. Those captures are called Tone Models. The TONEX ONE ships with the free TONEX SE software, which includes 200+ Tone Models, and you can load more from IK’s ToneNET community, which offers over 60,000 Tone Models. With TONEX software you can also capture your own amps and pedals and put them on the pedal.
Controls and onboard effects
Each preset gives you amp-style control over gain, volume and a 3-band EQ, with a noise gate, compressor and stereo reverb built in. Changes save automatically, and a safe mode prevents accidental edits on stage. The small knobs light up in different colours, so you can recognise each preset at a glance, and they also show the built-in tuner. Modulation and delay can be added through the TONEX software.
How the footswitch works
The TONEX ONE stores 20 presets, but the single footswitch only reaches a few of them at once. Knowing this before you buy avoids surprises:
- Stomp mode: the footswitch turns the current preset on and off, like a traditional drive pedal.
- Dual A/B mode: the footswitch alternates between two complete tones, for example clean and crunch.
- Third slot: a third preset can be loaded for quick access.
- Browsing all 20 presets: uses button and knob combinations rather than the footswitch, so most players set up their two or three live tones in advance.
Connections
The TONEX ONE has a 1/4-inch input and a TRS output. Use a regular mono cable for mono, or a TRS cable for stereo, dual mono or headphones. The USB-C port works as an audio interface for recording, and for loading presets and Tone Models. A global cab bypass removes cabinet simulation when you play into a real guitar amp or cabinet; leave it on for FRFR speakers, powered monitors, a PA or a recording interface. Bypass can be true bypass or buffered.
Power: buy a supply
A power supply is not included. The pedal runs from a standard 9V DC supply rated at least 120 mA, or from USB-C power. Find suitable supplies in our power accessories range.
Who is it for?
- Good fit: players with small pedalboards who want one great amp tone, or a clean and drive pair, without carrying an amp.
- Good fit: a backup rig in case your amp fails, or a “drive pedal” loaded with captured boutique pedals in front of your amp.
- Good fit: silent practice on headphones and simple direct recording over USB.
- Not the best fit: players who need many presets under their feet, delay and modulation on the pedal itself, or a big screen. A larger multi-effects unit suits them better.
Use two for amp and cab separation
Because each pedal runs one complete Tone Model, some players stack two TONEX ONE pedals: one for the amp and one for the cabinet or a second drive. IK also sells a two-pedal bundle for this approach.
TONEX ONE vs TONEX Board
Both run the same Tone Model technology. The TONEX ONE is a single mini pedal focused on one or two tones at a time. The TONEX Board is a full floorboard with up to four Tone Models per preset, two signal paths, 76 effects, a 5-inch touchscreen, XLR outputs and MIDI. Choose the TONEX ONE for size and simplicity, and the Board if you want a complete rig in one unit. Browse more guitar effects pedals and guitar amplification.

Can I record with it?
Yes. The USB-C port works as an audio interface for recording directly into a computer.
Can I load my own captures?
Yes. Capture your amps and pedals with TONEX software, or download Tone Models from ToneNET, then transfer them to the pedal.
