1Who we are

10dB (ABN 43 948 237 059) is an Australian online store selling pro audio, studio and music production equipment through 10db.com.au. In this policy, "10dB", "we", "us" and "our" mean 10dB.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

2Information we collect

  • Orders: name, email, phone number, billing and delivery address, and the products you buy.
  • Account: if you create an account, your login email and password (stored encrypted), order history and wishlist.
  • Contact and price match forms, chat and WhatsApp: your name, contact details and the content of your message.

Payment details

Payments are processed directly by our payment providers (e.g. Stripe, PayPal, Afterpay — list the ones you actually use). We do not receive or store your full card number.

You can browse our site without telling us who you are. We need your details to process an order.

  • To reply to your questions, quotes and price match requests.
  • To manage your account and remember your cart and wishlist.
  • To prevent fraud and keep our website secure.
  • To understand how our site is used and improve our products, pages and service.
  • To ask for feedback or a review after you buy.
  • To send marketing emails, only as described in section 4.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

4Emails & marketing

We send you marketing emails (deals, new products, guides and tips) only if you have signed up, for example to our newsletter or a free guide, or ticked the option at checkout.

We may also send emails directly related to something you started with us, such as an order confirmation, shipping updates, a reminder about items left in your cart, or a request to review your purchase.

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us at any time to stop receiving them. Unsubscribing won't affect emails about an order you have placed.

Some of the service providers listed above store or process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States, and may also use data centres in other countries, e.g. the European Union. We use well-known providers that apply their own security and privacy safeguards.

7Cookies & tracking

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use them to:

  • Make the store work: keep items in your cart, keep you logged in and remember your wishlist and product comparisons.
  • Measure traffic: count visits and see which pages are popular.
  • Advertising: the Google and Meta tags help us measure ads and show relevant offers on other sites.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the store, such as the cart and checkout, won't work without them. You can also control ad personalisation in your Google and Facebook settings.

8Security & how long we keep it

Our whole website uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Access to customer information is limited to people who need it to run the store, and account passwords are stored in encrypted form.

We keep order and invoice records for as long as Australian tax law requires (generally 5 years). Other information is kept only while we need it, then deleted or anonymised.

If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and take steps to limit the impact, as required by law.

9Access, correction & deletion

You can ask us at any time to:

  • give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
  • delete your account and personal information (we may need to keep order records for tax purposes).

If you have an account, you can update most details yourself under My Account. For anything else, email us (see section 13). We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for a request.

10Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please email us with the details. We will look into it and reply in writing within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

11Children

Our store is intended for adults. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to place your order. We do not knowingly collect information from children; if you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete them.

12Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our store, services or the law change. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
