The ART SCC (Studio Control Center) is a compact studio monitor controller from ART’s Project Series, made for home and project studios that have outgrown controlling their speakers from the audio interface. It sits between your interface and your monitors, letting you choose sources, switch speaker pairs and run a separate headphone mix from one desktop box with one big volume knob.
Three sources, three pairs of speakers
The SCC accepts up to three stereo input sources and sends them to any or all of three balanced stereo outputs. You can listen to one source on its own or blend them together, and you can switch your mix between two or three different sets of monitors to hear how it translates. A common setup is a main pair of nearfields, a small “reference” pair, and a subwoofer, each on its own output so you can bring the sub in and out at the press of a button.
A separate headphone cue mix
The SCC has a dedicated cue input and a headphone output that can switch between the cue source and the main mix. Feed your DAW’s second output or headphone send to the cue input and the performer can hear their own headphone mix while you listen to the main mix on the speakers. The headphone amp delivers 100 mW per channel into 100 Ω, with its own level control.
Mono check, mute and one big knob
A large, wide-range master volume control sets the level for whichever monitors are active, so you are no longer reaching for software faders or the tiny knob on your interface. The mono switch sums your mix to mono to check for phase problems and to hear how it will play on mono speakers and phones. A master mute silences the outputs instantly, handy when you are plugging cables or taking a call.
Trims for level-matched speaker pairs
Different monitors play at different volumes from the same signal, which makes A/B comparisons misleading. The SCC has input and output trim controls, located on the underside of the unit, so you can set each source and each speaker pair to the same perceived level once and then forget about them. Input level metering on the front panel shows what is coming in.
Typical setup
- Input 1: your audio interface’s main outputs.
- Cue input: the interface’s second output or headphone send, for an independent headphone mix.
- Inputs 2 and 3: a keyboard, a second computer, a phone or media player, or a small mixer.
- Outputs 1–3: your main monitors, a second pair, and a subwoofer.
Connections: check before you buy
All connections are 1/4-inch jacks. Inputs 1 and 2 are balanced TRS (left and right), while Input 3 and the cue input are unbalanced stereo 1/4-inch TRS jacks, so a phone or media player will need a 3.5 mm to 1/4-inch stereo cable. All three outputs are balanced 1/4-inch TRS. There are no XLR or RCA connectors, so monitors with XLR inputs need TRS-to-XLR cables. The SCC also has no talkback or dim switch, so if you need those, look at a larger controller.
Who is it for?
- Good fit: home and project studios with two or more pairs of monitors or a subwoofer, and producers who want physical volume control.
- Good fit: small studios that record other people and need a separate headphone mix.
- Not the best fit: studios that need talkback, dim, XLR connections or surround monitoring.
Active vs passive monitor controllers
Passive monitor controllers need no power and add no electronics to the signal path, but they usually offer only volume and simple switching. The SCC is active: it uses an external power supply to run its headphone amplifier, cue section, metering and up to +23 dB of gain. That gives you far more features in one box. Compare options in our monitor controllers range, and pair it with speakers from our studio monitors or studio subwoofers.

FAQ
Can the ART SCC switch between two pairs of studio monitors?
Yes. It has three balanced stereo outputs, so you can switch between up to three pairs of monitors, or run two pairs plus a subwoofer.
Does the ART SCC have XLR connections?
No. All inputs and outputs are 1/4-inch jacks. Use TRS-to-XLR cables for monitors with XLR inputs.
Can I connect my phone to it?
Yes, to Input 3 or the cue input, using a 3.5 mm to 1/4-inch stereo cable.
Can I use it with headphones only?
Yes. The headphone output can play either the main mix or the cue input, with its own level control.
Does it need power?
Yes. It runs from the included external 9 VAC, 1000 mA power supply.
Does it have talkback?
No. The SCC has mute and mono functions but no talkback microphone or dim switch.
